šŸŽ¶Anticipation..šŸŽ¶

I’m getting rather geeked up about my upcoming Plum Street Sampler and Heartstring Samplery retreat. I haven’t started packing yet but I am starting to think about what projects to take. We’ll also be getting an exclusive kit which I very possibly could start. We were asked ahead of time what count fabric we preferred. Of course I asked for 40ct as I prefer stitching with one thread.

While I was away, some of my stitcherly friends attended the Peel Stitch-In. One of the vendors was selling beautiful stitching mats - basically a placemat that a stitcher uses to protect their stitching from a potentially unclean table at which they’re sitting. I thought I’d make myself one and did some thinking about what fabrics from my stash I’d choose.

I wanted a light-coloured fabric for the front. Anything would serve for the back. I thought this would be a great use for one of my favourite Charlie Brown fabrics. The light-coloured fabric is one with all kinds of crafty inspirational words. A dark-ish solid was needed for the binding, so I picked the a bright yellow that works with the accents on the Charlie Brown fabric.

I quilted everything together with my favourite 60 degree angle, spaced 2.5ā€ apart. (oops! some slightly wonky quilting - right in the centre, of course) <--- insert eye roll here.

I sewed the binding onto the lighter side
and folded the binding over to the ā€˜cute’ side, hand-sewing it down.
It folds in half to fit nicely into my stitching bag.

Now to decide what projects to take…
