Premature New Year's Start

Some of us planned to start a new project on January 1. I'm doing 'The Light of Winter' a Brenda Gervais design With Thy Needle and Thread.

However, I became impatient and started it on New Year's Eve. So far so good. 1 strand of floss over 2 threads on 40ct linen. (20sts per inch)
I substituted DMC 167 for WDW Palomino for the outline of the house. Then I found a skein of Palomino loose in the project bag which I am going to use from now own because I want the variegation when I do the roof with it. I've been using Palomino for the windows. Not sure if I'll have to frog the top line on the house outline or just do one cross of the Palomino on top of the DMC 167.

I thought I had ordered dark green HotFix 'jewels' for my Polar Bear Wishes ornament but turns out I didn't hit the order button. So now the earliest they'd be delivered is mid-January. I'm going to make do with the green Mill Hill beads after all.

I'm only a few rounds away from completing the 30th (and final) octagon for my second Persian Tiles blanket. On Sunday, when I have the gang here for a crafty day, Barb is going to start her Persian Tiles blanket. Between coaching her and doing my own stitching, Poppy and Jen1 will be having a sewing workshop making the Dumpling Dish.

It's not as intricate a project as the Drop Zone Bags were so they should only take a couple of hours to complete.

Tomorrow is our guild's first stitch day of the year. I hope to assemble some items to put on the 'give away' table. I was given some stash from a woman I met at the Pastime Pieces retreat last October which I will be adding as well.

I only made one stitching resolution for 2026 in hopes of reducing the amount of frogging (rip it, rip it - removing incorrectly place stitches) and it is:

COUNT TWICE, STITCH ONCE.

Let's see how long I can go before breaking this resolution.

Happy New Year, everyone!
