Letting Off Some Steam

Today I received my licence plate renewal fee refund dating back to March 2020. I believe this was timed for us to feel warm and fuzzy about our Premier in time for the June 2 election. I guess we are all supposed to forget how badly he botched much of the COVID restrictions for Ontarians, how he put business concerns ahead of health concerns during a pandemic, how he avoided Ottawa during the protests in his province, how he has ground teachers, nurses and doctors into the ground over the past 2 years, how he has ignored advice from medical and health professionals during COVID, succumbing to pressure to lift the mask mandates - mandate proven to help limit transmission of the COVID virus. I could go on...

The Premier talks about wanting to put another highway north of Toronto, through residential and prime farm land while we already have an underused toll road, much of which was sold off after the province paid for and built it with the promise of generating revenue. Now the 407 is one of the costliest toll roads in North America. 43% of it is still owned by a Spanish transportation company.

I understand the Premier wanting to put money 'back in the pockets of the little guy' but I have great concerns about what initiatives will die for lack of funds from the province.

For those of us who have considered the money already spent and don't necessarily need the refund, please consider donating to one or more charities. Heaven knows there is a lot of need in this world.

Rant over. Now back to my regularly scheduled writings.
